Fab City Forum Guidelines
A Shared Space for Distributed Collaboration
This forum is the digital workspace for the Fab City Global Initiative. It connects people and teams who are actively shaping how we produce, share, and learn across our local ecosystems. Treat it like you would any shared lab or project space: with respect, focus, and care.
These are not rigid rules. They are shared principles that help us keep this forum practical, transparent, and valuable for everyone involved.
Keep Discussions Productive
Add something useful to every conversation. It can be an update, a question, a reference, a tool, or a short reflection, but it needs to move things forward.
Before starting a new topic, check what’s already here. Many discussions are already active across programs, projects, and cities. Jumping into them helps keep the knowledge connected and traceable.
Be clear, stay on topic, and remember this is a place for working and learning together, not for self-promotion or generic opinions.
Disagree Constructively
You can challenge ideas, not people. If you disagree, do it with clarity and arguments, not with tone or attitude.
Avoid:
-
Personal comments
-
Dismissive replies
-
Circular arguments
If something’s wrong, fix it or propose a better way. That’s what makes this community valuable.
Your Participation Shapes the Tone
Every post sets an example for how this forum operates. The way we engage here reflects what the Fab City Network is about: collaboration, transparency, and action.
Use the tools available (likes, flags, replies, bookmarks, edits, and tags) to keep discussions relevant and easy to follow.
If a thread loses focus or quality, help steer it back.
If You See a Problem, Flag It
Moderators keep the system running, but this space depends on everyone. If you see spam, outdated content, or behavior that goes against these guidelines, flag it instead of replying.
Flags help us clean noise without feeding it.
We don’t delete things for small mistakes or disagreements, but we do remove content that’s disrespectful, irrelevant, or against the Foundation’s principles.
Keep it Civil and Focused
Respect others’ work, privacy, and context.
Avoid anything that could be read as offensive, aggressive, or inappropriate.
Don’t post private or confidential material, and don’t copy others’ work without credit.
Remember that this is a public forum. Search engines index it, and newcomers read it to learn how Fab City works. Write like someone who’s contributing to a collective knowledge base.
Stay Organized
Place topics in the right category and keep titles descriptive.
Avoid cross-posting or duplicating threads.
If your discussion drifts into a new topic, open a separate thread.
Use the Like button instead of replying “+1” or “Agreed.” Keep the signal high and the noise low.
Post Only Your Own Stuff
You may not post anything digital that belongs to someone else without permission. You may not post descriptions of, links to, or methods for stealing someone’s intellectual property (software, video, audio, images), or for breaking any other law.
